Roofers across Baldock and the SG7 villages in north Hertfordshire

Local homes

Georgian town houses with parapets and hidden valley gutters, older timber-framed buildings, Victorian terraces in slate, post-war and modern homes with concrete tiles, and flat-roofed extensions and garages.

Open farmland around Baldock and the higher chalk ground to the east leave rooftops exposed to wind-driven rain, which finds weak ridges, verges and flashings.

Around Baldock

• The very wide High Street, where the buildings of Butcher's Row once stood until they were demolished in the 1770s
• The Wynn almshouses on the High Street, founded in 1621
• The Grange at 14a High Street, a Georgian house dated 1728
• Baldock's long history as a malting and brewing town

Planning and listed buildings

Like-for-like roof repairs usually do not need permission, but work to listed buildings, or changes in a conservation area, may need consent from North Hertfordshire District Council. We will flag this before any work starts.
